Cixi Music Studio enjoys helping both kids and adults learn how to play the piano. We have significant experience teaching pianists of all ages, and our teaching methodologies are always fine-tuned to the individual.
Children learn in private or group lessons at our studio. We do like to use the Faber Piano Adventures method, but we also mix in graded songs and pieces, other exercises, and fun learning activities. We won’t keep your child glued to a method for very long, as we prioritize piano literature as quickly as the student’s reading and technical abilities allow.
Adults bring varied goals to our studio. Some want to play worship or holiday tunes, others can only play the piano by ear and wish to sight read, and others would simply like to understand how to play the piano at a foundational level. We want you to communicate your goals to your teacher, and we will develop a curriculum that perfectly suits your needs.
More Information About Our Katy, TX Piano Lessons
All of our students learn how to read music at Cixi Music Studio. We can always work on lead sheets and other contemporary music-reading mediums, but we believe that reading is a fundamental part of playing the piano at a high level. We will also develop your understanding of music theory - chords, key signatures, harmonies, intervals and more included.
We then rely on our significant knowledge of graded piano literature to help you choose music. By “graded,” we mean that we can identify real pieces of music written by well-known composers that are appropriate for your ability level. You don’t have to be a professional pianist to play artistically fulfilling music!
We also focus on good playing technique. If you have stiff arms, bad posture, or poor wrist movements, you could be injured in the future - we don’t want that to happen.
