Voice Lessons For Kids and Teens in Pearland
If your child is interested in singing, or if you have a teen who would like to audition for a theater production or college, feel free to get in touch. With children, our emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals of music, proper breathing, and ear training - until the voice changes, the primary focus is on creating an interest in and holistic knowledge of music.
Teenagers are navigating changes to their voice and auditions at the same time - this can be overwhelming. We’ll help your child, whether they are a bass, baritone, tenor, soprano, or alto (or if they aren’t sure!), find their voice.
We can select appropriate repertoire that is within their range, and we will also pick music that they will enjoy. Give us a call, and we’ll help your high schooler prepare for their next audition.
Voice Lessons for Adults in Pearland, TX
Our adult students range from young professionals looking to join a chorus for social purposes to retired individuals who have always wanted to sing Verdi. Perhaps you have already been a singer for years, but are frustrated with your lack of progress or range. Or maybe you would like to sing, but have trouble holding a pitch or feel tension in your voice. We are happy to work through each and every issue with you and to focus on the music you love.
What Will Voice Lessons Include?
In the beginning stages, we ascertain your range, ability to project, and general musical knowledge. That will help us know what to focus on. We will also look for sound production issues that we can address right away. We will teach you how to breathe deeply with open technique, sing pitches with a relaxed throat, and keep your body tension-free in general. This will lead directly into tone production and your ability to sing with more volume.
We will also train your ear and help you “sight sing” from sheet music through both note reading and interval identification. Rehearsals are more fun when you can sing a piece of music the first time you see it.
More advanced stages may include instruction for belting (common in Broadway and show tunes), used mixed chest and head voice, introducing other textures and jazz techniques, and more.
